Viacheslav Chirikba was born on March 17, 1959 , Gagra , Abkhaz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic ) - He is a politician and  linguist . He was Minister of Foreign Affairs for Abkhazia from (2011 to 2016). He is a Professor and Doctor of Philology . Full Member of the Academy of Sciences of Abkhazia , Academic Secretary of the Department of Humanitarian and Social Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of Abkhazia, Senior Researcher, Department of Caucasian Languages, Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Honored Scientist of the Republic of Abkhazia, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Abkhazia.



Born March 17, 1959 within the metropolis of Gagra , in Abkhazia.

From 1977 to 1982 he studied on the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​of Kharkiv State University. V.N. Karazin .

From 1982 to 1986 he studied on the graduate faculty of the Institute of Linguistics of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow .From 1986 to 1991 he labored as a researcher within the Caucasian languages ​​sector of the Institute of Linguistics of the USSR Academy of Sciences .


At the University of Leiden ,He was a doctoral candidate From 1991 to 1996 on the Institute of Comparative and Descriptive Linguistics. Reconstruction of its phonological system and part of its vocabulary and morphology. ” (Supervisors: Prof. Dr. F. Cortlandt , Dr. R. Smiths).


From 1996 to 1997, he was a visiting researcher on the Klingendal Royal Institute for International Relations, The Hague, The Netherlands. Research subject: "Georgian-Abkhaz conflict."


He was a performer of the postdoctoral analysis undertaking “Grammar of the Sadz dialect of the Abkhaz language”, from (2000 to 2004), a trainer of Caucasian languages ​​on the Institute of Comparative and Descriptive Linguistics of the University of Leiden .


 He labored as a trainer of Caucasian languages, Department of Assyriology, University of Leiden ( Leiden , the Netherlands ) from 2005 to 2006.


He labored as the top of the Department of Political Science and Conflictology of the Abkhaz Institute for Humanitarian Studies. D.I. Gulia . September 20, 2016, resigned, citing the truth that he doesn't see for himself “the opportunity in the circumstances to continue to work as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia”  .
